Our New Organization
It is with great personal pride and honor that I wish to introduce our foundation.
The Canadian Crime Victims Foundation was formed from tragedy and courage with a vision to assist the restoration of lives
torn apart by acts of criminal violence.
Our mission statement is "To support, empower and provide resources to victims of crime and to effect positive change to
victim services in Canada".
Violent crimes in Canadian cities continue to increase and anyone can be a victim.
Crime victims in Canada are ignored by the very nature of our criminal justice system, and for the most part left to heal on
their own. Existing Victim service providers lack the resources and mandate to provide the desperately needed services such as
psychological counseling, medical intervention, financial assistance for funerals and lost wages and court support and
mediation to name a few.
The foundation will also provide educational interface with Canadian Universities to implement undergraduate courses in
"Victimology" to better equip our police, justice officials, medical staff and others in dealing with victims of violent
crime.
Our program includes working proactively with governments at all levels to protect victims interests and promote fairness and
equity in all criminal legislation and processes, including parole, restorative justice and community based programs.
In addition to direct support services our goals include scholarship funds and mentoring for children and siblings of murder
victims to give them a brighter future.
We cannot underestimate the need for this service in Canada, and we can not make this happen without your financial support.
